Course Description: Many practicing neurosurgeons have not been trained in Minimally Invasive surgical techniques during their residencies. They are, therefore, not comfortable using such approaches and are at a disadvantage in being unable to offer these Minimally Invasive and cosmetically appealing procedures to their patients. The Minimally Invasive techniques reduce post-operative back pain, provide faster recovery of function and return to work, and reduce muscle scarring and longer-term disability.

Additionally, they are cosmetically appealing and are being sought after by a more educated public. This course will introduce the technique of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and will allow participants to work with cadavers under the guidance of experts to become more comfortable with and more adept at using minimal access spinal procedures and using newly available spine instrumentation systems that facilitate safe and effective surgery.
